The site of Silver and Lead mines is engraved on the 1840, 1st Edition
6" OS scale map, about 100m east of Moyriesk House. Nothing is known of
the history of this deposit. It is conceivable that it may well have been
discovered, or at least evaluated by John Taylor & Co, as it is located
less than 1.5 km from Castletown, which was
evaluated by that Company in 1838.
