CORNAMUCKLAGH SOUTH [H755203]
It is possible that this is the site of a lead mine and smelt mill noted
in a report dated 1799. In other references, in 1862 and 1869, it is listed
as unworked, and the site is not listed in Mineral Statistics. However,
extant mine abandonment plans in the Geological Survey of Ireland, dated
July 11, 1891, show an inclined shaft, and two short, interconnected levels
at 15 and 22 fathoms. There is now nothing visible at this site. [Morris,
1984]
