A very minor site on this privately owned island north east of Dublin,
shows an artificial excavation which may have once had an adit or shaft
at the bottom of this pit. The Geological Survey of Ireland 6 inch fieldsheets
indicate a copper lode, at this site on the south side of the island.
Various mentions are found in geological publications, but without any
detail. Cole does not mention the site at all, in his 1922 Memoir. It
appears to be simply a exploratory trial working on some mineralisation,
rather than a mine. Thanks to the Trustees of the Lambay Island Estate
for permission. Matthew Parkes .
