Holyford, Co.Tipperary
 |
The photo was taken by Matt Parkes of a lightening damaged chimney at
Holyford, Co Tipperary. There is little to see apart from the chimney,
a second stump of a chimney next to ruined walls of a building (engine
house?) and a shaft. The mines were mainly worked between 1837-39, and
again between1848-1862. Copper was produced, from veins in Silurian greywackes.

| This photo shows the ruined chimney stump and overgrown nature of the
remains at Holyford copper mine, Co. Tipperary. See Cole's Memoir page 39. |
